Native Ride Cycling Club

After losing Shamus to juvenile diabetes in 2012, our family sought a way to grieve and heal together. That's when we started cycling.

Although Shamus's disease was genetic (Type I), many Native people are at an extreme risk for developing Type II diabetes. We resolved to exercise regularly as a family, and quickly began inviting friends and family on long weekend rides and quick jaunts after work an school. Pretty soon, we were repeating annual rides, and decided to search for sponsors, register riders, and raise funds and awareness for great causes in and around the Black Hills.

Our two annual rides are the Ride for Reading (May 3rd, 2017) and the Great Bear Ride (September 30, 2017). Both are great fun and support worthy causes.

Otherwise, check out the Native Ride Cycling Club's facebook page for information about upcoming rides!
